It is with great pleasure that we share with you a new project funded by the Henry Luce Foundation.  Open Plaza is an exciting new platform that builds upon HTI’s En Conjunto commitments by offering a virtual gathering space to amplify Latinx scholars’ voices in the global public square through blogs, podcasts, and HTI Talks. 

Conversational, collaborative, and interdisciplinary, Open Plaza media engage six topic areas: culture, education, gender and sexuality, health, migration, and politics and economics.  Open Plaza is uniquely designed to facilitate connections between Latinx intellectuals in religion and theology and a broader audience to exchange resources and ideas that contribute to advancing the well-being of Latinx communities and society at large. 

Launched in November of 2019, Open Plaza will showcase two blogs and two podcasts each month for you to use in a variety of settings, such as bible studies, sermons, classrooms,  community forums, and more.  

Help us build and advance Open Plaza by tuning in and sharing with others.

Joanne Rodríguez

Rev. Joanne Rodríguez is Executive Director of the Hispanic Theological Initiative (HTI) and an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church USA. Since 1999, she has worked collaboratively with students, faculty, deans, directors of non-profit educational programs, and presidents to ensure that HTI doctoral students complete their doctoral studies and become leaders that make an impact in theological and religious education as well as in the larger landscape of education. Rev. Rodríguez received her ThM and MDiv from Princeton Theological Seminary, and her BA from Pace University. She is a teaching elder at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Trenton, New Jersey.
